ANALYSIS ON SOME RECENT TRENDS IN CYBER MEDIA
BLOGGING

The term blog is a blend of the terms web and log, leading to web log, weblog, and finally blog. Authoing a blog, maitaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called bloging. Individual articles on a blog are called “blog posts,” “posts” or “entries”. A person who posts these entries is called a blogger. Blogging is a way of collecting links to web pages and sharing thoughts and ideas with people online. Blogs (or Weblogs) are basically online journals or diaries which are great for sharing information and ideas.

A blog (or weblog) is a website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed with the newest at the top. Like other media, blogs often focus on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news. Some blogs function as online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Since its appearance in 1995, blogging has emerged as a popular means of communication, affecting public opinion and mass media around the world.

Its a frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links. A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, most notably Blogger at blogger.com. Blogging is the act of writing in one's blog. This usually involves linking to something the author finds interesting on the internet.

A blog entry typically consists of the following distinguishing characteristics due to which they are easily identifiable:
  • Title: main title, or headline, of the post.
  • Body: main content of the post. Blogs use a conversatinal style of documentation.
  • Comments: added by readers.
  • The Links: Links and the accompanying commentary have often been hailed as the distinguishing characteristic of a weblog. The linking that happens through Blogging creates the connections that bind us. Commentary alone is the province of journals, diaries, and editorial pieces.
